Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met on Thursday with the high-level Bahraini delegation to the Egyptian-Bahraini Joint Governmental Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Co-operation.

The two sides discussed several joint projects and exploredways to further boost bilateral relations.

The meeting was attended by a host of ministers and senior officials from both sides.

Madbouly welcomed the Bahraini delegation to Egypt, and voiced hope that the  committee’s meetings would come out with decisions likely to push the various frameworks of co-operation between the two countries to broader horizons.

For his part, Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, voiced gratitude to Egypt’s Minister of Finance Kouchouk, his team and the Egyptian ministers for the thorough preparations for the joint committee meetings.

Shaikh Salman highlighted opportunities to develop co-operation between the sovereign wealth funds of the two countries, moving beyond co-operation towards actual investment in the coming period. He also discussed collaboration in port management and operation, as well as ship maintenance.

In addition, he welcomed co-operation between Egypt’s National Postal Authority (Egypt Post) and Bahrain Post to establish a digital postal platform, expressing hope that the initiative would soon translate into practical steps.

The Bahraini minister also voiced his country’s hopes to double bilateral trade, highlighting intensified efforts to encourage and incentivise the private sector to invest, expand trade and establish joint projects, while strengthening co-operation across various fields.

For his part, Minister Kouchouk noted the coordination between two sides to deliver on the agreements reached by the joint committee.

He also lauded the spirit of co-operation between the two countries and stressed the importance of strengthening co-ordination within the committee, monitoring its outcomes and translating its recommendations into swift and effective action.

The finance minister thanked Shaikh Salman and both delegations for their efforts to capitalise on shared co-operation opportunities and their commitment to further developing bilateral ties.

He noted that chambers of commerce in both countries were contributing to these efforts, affirming Egypt’s readiness to provide the necessary support to boost trade and investment exchanges.

Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid said offered the Bahraini side a number of investment opportunities in state-owned companies that the government had announced plans to offer, he said, adding that the Bahraini delegation had welcomed these opportunities.

Wrapping up the meeting, PM Madbouly stressed the importance of drawing up a clear roadmap for implementing the announced investments and projects, allowing progress to be monitored and ensuring the effective implementation of the joint committee’s outcomes.
