Egypt and Qatar continue to exert intensive efforts aimed at resolving controversial points in the agreement for ceasefire in Gaza, emanating from US Special Envoy Frank Witkoff’s proposal and in a way that allows the resumption of indirect negotiations on the basis of this proposal.
In a joint statement posted on the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s webpage yesterday, the two countries stressed their determination, in coordination with the United States, to intensify efforts aimed at narrowing the gaps in negotiations.
“Egypt and Qatar call upon all parties to demonstrate responsibility and support the efforts exerted by mediators to put an end to the Gaza crisis in a way that restores stability and calm to the region,” the two countries said in the statement.
The two countries also express hope for the swift conclusion of a 60-day humanitarian truce, conducive to such a durable ceasefire agreement that permits halting the unprecedented human crisis in Gaza Strip, opening the crossings and delivery of humanitarian and relief aid.
Ultimately, these coordinated efforts aim to bring about a complete end of the war and allow the commencement of Gaza’s reconstruction in accordance with the plan adopted at the Emergency Arab Summit in Cairo on March 4, 2025, the two countries added in the statement.
