Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel-Aati held phone talks late on Monday with European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, as part of ongoing consultations to discuss ways to reduce military escalation in the region.
During the call, Abdel-Aati briefed the EU official on Egypt’s intensive efforts aiming at calming and de-escalating tensions, in coordination with regional partners, the ministry stated on its website.
The two officials also exchanged assessments of the current regional situation following the US-Iran negotiations recently held in Islamabad.
Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of concerted regional and international efforts, including those of the European Union, to advance diplomatic tracks and political solutions.
the two sides agreed on the need to continue coordination and consultation within the framework of the close relations and strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union, and to strengthen joint efforts to reduce escalation in the region.
