The cabinet decided – during its weekly meeting on Wednesday under Premier Moustafa Madbouli – a bill on issuing a law restructuring the River Transport Authority with an aim to upgrade the efficiency of river transportation to contribute to boosting the national economy.
Under the bill, the authority will be responsible for issuing river navigation licenses in lieu of domestic navigation administrations in the governorates. The licenses already issued would be recognised until their expiry date.
The bill also proposed restructuring the authority’s board and the responsibilities entitled to it.
