Egypt’ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, met with the Hungarian Ambassador, Rita Herencsár, to discuss bolstering co-operation in the health sector. Abdel Ghaffar praised the strong relationship between the two countries and expressed his commitment to expanding health collaboration for their mutual benefit.

The meeting reviewed current and future projects, including medical training for various specialities, initiatives to improve healthcare staff skills, and preparations for the minister’s upcoming visit to Hungary in October 2025.

According to ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the talks also covered co-operation on “One Health” strategies to combat zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and climate-related health risks. Additionally, they discussed family medicine, reproductive health, vaccine programmes, and the prevention of non-communicable diseases.

Both sides explored expanding advanced training programmes for doctors and nurses, alongside greater cooperation in the pharmaceutical and medical supplies industries.

The talks also addressed Egypt’s medical support for injured Palestinians since the outbreak of violence in Gaza, with discussions on how Hungary could assist in providing medicines and supplies.

Ambassador Herencsár commended Egypt’s healthcare progress and humanitarian role, affirming Hungary’s readiness to deepen co-operation in multiple health fields and strengthen bilateral ties.
