ُEgypt’s Minister of Finance Mohamed Maeet and outgoing South Korean Ambassador to Egypt Hong Jin-Wook agreed to continue efforts to solve problems faced by South Korean companies in Egypt in order to promote investment nationwide.
Egypt has experienced significant economic challenges due to Covid-19, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the global austerity measures since 2020, the minister said.
“We have been actively promoting foreign investment and striving to make Egypt an attractive investment destination,” the minister added.
“Thanks to these efforts by the government, many South Korean companies have invested in Egypt and expanded their presence there,” Maeet said.
“In addition, there have been various economic co-operation projects between the two countries, such as the production of the K-9 Howitzer, the el-Dabaa nuclear power plant, and the three lines of the Cairo Metro,” Maeet added.
Maeet has been highly regarded for his significant contributions to enhancing economic co-operation between the two countries, earning him the epithet ‘Problem Solver’ among South Koreans.
Ambassador Hong requested continued support to attract more South Korean investment to Egypt and ensure smooth business operations.
