Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel al Assoumi commended Saturday efforts exerted by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to spread enlightening thought and face extremism.
Assoumi underscored the importance of the 33rd International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, that is held under the rubric “Ijtihad (the concept of independent judgments or opinions issued by experts in Islamic law) is a necessity of the age” and organized by the Awqaf Ministry under the sponsorship of president Sisi.
Ijtihad has become a scientific necessity to keep abreast of developments in all walks of life, he noted.
