The Armed Forces organised a celebration marking the anniversary of the 10th of Ramadan Victory.

The celebration was attended by a number of Armed Forces commanders, officers, and soldiers, as well as a number of senior religious figures from the Awqaf Ministry and Al Azhar.

The celebration began with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Sheikh Ayman Aql, followed by a speech by Al Shahat Al Sayed Ezzazi, a scholar from the Awqaf Ministry.

Ezzazi emphasised that the 10th of Ramadan Victory will remain an inspiring memory and a source of pride for Egyptians.

‘During this holy month, the brave men of the Egyptian army set the most wonderful examples of defying difficulties and overcoming obstacles, thanks to their unwavering faith in God’s victory and support.’

Assistant Defence Minister Major General Ahmed Mohamed El-Seif, delivered a speech on behalf of Minister of Defense and Military Production, Lieutenant General Abdel Meguid Saqr. He said that this glorious anniversary will remain a source of pride in our military and national history, embodying the strength of will, steadfast determination, and wise decision-making.

He paid tribute to the October generation and to the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed their precious blood to reclaim the sacred land of Sinai.

He affirmed the resolve of the Armed Forces personnel to continue the fragrant legacy of the victorious generation through hard work, sacrifice, and dedication, maintaining the highest levels of competence and preparedness for the sake of the nation’s advancement and the safety of its territory.

The celebration featured honouring of several Armed Forces personnel for achieving advanced positions during their participation in the 10th International Quran Memorisation Competition for Military Personnel for the Hijri year 1446 AH, held in Saudi Arabia.

On the 10th of Ramadan, October 6, 1973 the Egyptian army launched a surprise attack against Israeli forces in the occupied Sinai supported by the Air Force. The army managed to cross the Suez Canal and dislodge the Israelis on the other side of the international waterway.
