Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati held separate phone calls on Thursday with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Kuwait to discuss regional developments and efforts to contain escalating tensions.
According to a statement released by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday, the talks focused on the need for an immediate halt to military operations and escalatory actions, while emphasizing political and diplomatic solutions to restore regional security and prevent the conflict from widening.
The ministers also agreed to maintain close coordination among Arab states during the current period.
The ministers condemned Wednesday’s drone attack on two vessels at Damietta Port, rejecting attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, vital facilities or the security of international navigation and trade.
They expressed full solidarity with Egypt and underscored the need to intensify regional and international efforts to reduce tensions and preserve security and stability across the region.
