CAIRO – The Arab Parliament condemned a statement released by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding the status of religious freedom in Algeria, noting that the statement included inaccurate and misleading information that is far from reality.
In a statement issued Sunday night, the Arab Parliament affirmed that issues related to religious freedoms are linked to the social and cultural characteristics of each society.
External interference in these matters under any pretext is not permissible, the statement read, adding that Algeria is known for its moderation and tolerance.
Moreover, the Algerian constitution and laws explicitly recognize religious freedoms and ensure the freedom of belief without any ambiguity, the statement noted.
The Arab Parliament praised the significant efforts made by Algeria in this regard, under the wise leadership of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
