Spokesperson for Alexandria Port, Ahmed Bureiqa, reported notable activity in navigation, cargo handling, and the loading and unloading of trucks and strategic goods over the past 24 hours.

In a statement on Monday, Bureiqa said that Alexandria Port received 18 ships and saw 19 ships depart, totalling 37 vessels during this period, with all operational and technical departments functioning smoothly.

He added that 47 vessels were docked at the port’s berths, reflecting the efficiency of the operational system and the smooth movement of ships according to the planned navigation schedules.

A total of 169,000 tons of various goods and strategic commodities were handled, including 39,000 tonnes exported and 130,000 tonnes imported.

Container traffic totaled 8,186 TEUs in 24 hours, including 3,822 import containers, 1,941 export containers, and 2,423 transit containers, demonstrating a balanced flow of imports, exports, and transshipment, and highlighting the port’s role as a major regional logistics hub serving international trade.

Port gates at Alexandria and Dekheila recorded 5,530 trucks enter and 5,468 exit, totaling 10,998 truck movements during the 24-hour period.

Alexandria Port Authority continues its efforts to improve operational systems and enhance efficiency through optimal use of available resources and the implementation of advanced technological systems in port management, ensuring faster and more accurate operations.

These measures are complemented by ongoing coordination among port stakeholders to accelerate loading and unloading, reduce ship waiting times, and boost the port’s competitiveness while improving services for all shipping lines.

The authority emphasised its full commitment to applying the highest occupational safety and health standards across all work sites, as well as adhering to environmental regulations to prevent pollution, while continuing to provide high-quality services that support trade and the national economy.
