Egypt’s Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hany Sewilam said Wednesday the purpose of projects in Alexandria is to protect beaches and deal with the impact of climate change, while protecting the public and public amenities.
Sewilam said in a ministry statement that 210 kilometres of coastline are now protected and work is under way on another 45 kilometres.
The minister also reviewed a report from Beach Protection Authority chief Ahmed Abdel Kader on schemes to safeguard the beaches at Alexandria.
