CAIRO – Spokesman for Arab League’s Secretary General Gamal Rushdy said that the talks of Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit and UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen came within the framework of continuous consultations between the Arab League and the UN on the situation in Syria.
In press statements after the talks, Rushdy said that the meeting tackled standing on the latest developments in Syria especially after the negative repercussions of the massive earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey on February 6.
On the expectations of the AL on the effect of an agreement to restore Saudi-Iranian relations on the situation in Syria, Rushdy said that it is too early to make any judgments on the matter right now, adding that the Arab League is closely following up the latest developments in Syria.
