CAIRO – Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi said the Egyptian state is steadily advancing towards securing the national energy system in line with the strategic vision that places energy security as a top national priority.

Badawi made the remarks during an inspection tour to follow up on the final stages of preparing the regasification vessel in Ain Sokhna port in order to transfer it to SUMED quay in Ain Sokhna to be ready to receive imported liquefied gas shipments for regasification and injection into the national gas network, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the Ministry of Petroleum.

The minister reviewed the progress realized so far in this regard and the scheduled timelines for the completion of these works, which are being carried out by Petrojet in cooperation with Enppi and Gasco companies.

This is in preparation for its accreditation by international institutions concerned with global quality standards in this activity of the gas industry before the operating stages.

He asserted that the visit is part of continuous field follow-ups, underlining the petroleum sector’s readiness to meet the increasing demand for natural gas during the summer season.

He voiced deep appreciation for the efforts exerted by all workers involved in these projects which are meant to ensure the country’s natural gas needs during the summer months.

Meanwhile, the workers affirmed that the visit of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly earlier this week, along with the ongoing visits by the petroleum minister represented an impetus to complete these projects in record time according to international standards.
