Egyptian Agriculture Minister Sayyed Quseir had talks with AbdulHakim Elwaer, FAO Assistant Director- General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, on joint projects between the ministry and the international organisation.
During the meeting, the minister lauded co-operation with FAO, referring to the launch of the FAST initiative – which is a multi-stakeholder partnership acting as an accelerator to transform agrifood systems to deliver triple wins: for people, for climate and for nature.
Quseir underlined the importance of co-operation with the international organisation in the early warning system as well as co-operation mechanism with regard to the loss emerging from climate change.
Meanwhile, Elwaer underlined keenness on implementing projects that go in line with Egypt’s sustainable development plans.
He highlighted the importance of coordination with the Agriculture Ministry.
The FAO is ready to provide the Agriculture Ministry with all needed studies and posting it on pioneering international expertise.
He noted that FAO is going to implement a climate-smart agricultural project in Kafr El Sheikh, Beheira and Aswan within the framework of the Decent Life initiative.
