SHARM EL-SHEIKH – The African group to the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) on Monday called on international donors to help developing countries that are facing a very important challenge of financing anti-corruption measures.
The group, in an address delivered by Algerian Ambassador in Cairo Abdelhamid Shbira at day one of the 9th session of the conference of parties to the UN convention, congratulated Egypt on hosting the conference, that is now in session in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
The group underscored the necessity of boosting international co-operation against corruption and maintaining the implementation of the UN convention in this regard in order to achieve aspirations of peoples.
The group urged donors to provide financial and technical allocations to help developing countries build their national capabilities against corruption.
African countries will remain committed to carrying out measures aimed at combating corruption and co-operating to restore stolen funds and assets, according to the group.
