CAIRO – Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit left on Monday for Bucharest on a visit to Romania, the Arab League general secretariat announced.
Arab League Spokesman Gamal Roshdi said the visit, which comes in response to an invitation from the Romanian government, aims at holding talks with Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca and Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu.
Talks with the Romanian officials will tackle means of enhancing consultations and cooperation between the two sides as well as exchanging viewpoints on the latest developments at the Arab and European levels, added the spokesman.
The AL chief will take part in the launching of his books titled “Witness of War and Peace: Egypt, the October War, and Beyond” and “My Testimony” which are translated into the Romanian language.
The two books are depicting Ahmed Abul Gheit’s diaries during the October war and his experience in diplomatic work over the period from 2004 till 2011. The two books have already been translated into English, Russian, Chinese and Spanish languages.
