Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati stressed on Sunday the importance of all parties fulfilling their commitments and refraining from any actions that could hinder the implementation of the US President’s peace plan for Gaza or undermine the progress achieved.

Abdel-Aati made the remarks during a telephone conversation with UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nikolay Mladenov to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and ongoing efforts to implement the peace plan.

During the call, Abdel-Aati emphasised the need to adhere to all agreed requirements under the roadmap, particularly ensuring full, safe and sustainable humanitarian access and completing the Israeli withdrawal from the Strip.

He noted that these steps would pave the way for moving to the second phase of the plan and support early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

The foreign minister also stressed the importance of enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to carry out its temporary responsibilities from within the Strip.

He also underscored the need to advance arrangements for deploying the international stabilisation force to monitor the ceasefire, support security and stability during the transitional phase, and preserve the unity of the Palestinian territories.

Abdel-Aati affirmed that these measures should ultimately enable the Palestinian National Authority to assume its full responsibilities in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The two sides also reviewed arrangements for the next phase and efforts to consolidate stability in Gaza, with Abdel-Aati stressing the need to create the necessary conditions for advancing the implementation of the peace plan and moving towards its next phase.
