Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati and House of Representatives Speaker Hisham Badawy discussed on Sunday means of boosting co-operation between the government and parliament to support of the country’s foreign policy and economic priorities.
Abdel-Aati commended the coordination between the ministry and the parliament, which helped advance national priorities and enhance the co-operation between the executive and legislative branches, a ministry statement said.
The chief diplomat also lauded the parliament’s legislative and oversight role, which supported state interests and contributed to achieving national objectives.
Abdel-Aati said his ministry would continue engaging with parliament through its specialised committees to brief lawmakers on developments in Egypt’s foreign policy, regional and international issues, and the ministry’s consular services for Egyptians abroad.
He also stressed the importance of continued coordination with parliamentary committees to support Egypt’s foreign policy priorities, attract foreign investment, promote economic development and protect the interests of Egyptians living overseas.
The Foreign Minister called for expanding parliamentary diplomacy through increased exchanges between lawmakers and the establishment of additional parliamentary friendship groups with other countries to support Egypt’s foreign policy objectives and strengthen its international engagement.
