The Ministry of Health and Population started Sunday receiving requests from ordinary people across the nation for Covid-19 vaccines.
The ministry’s vaccine registration website (https://www.egcovac.mohp.gov.eg/#/home) started operating to receive requests.
Priority in the registration and the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccines will be given the elderly, and patients with chronic diseases.
Other segments of society will then have their turn in the vaccine rollout, the Ministry of Health said.
The public registration process comes hard on the heels of the immunisation of healthcare workers, especially at the nation’s isolation hospitals.
Thousands of doctors and other staff at the different isolation hospitals have already received vaccine shots.
Egypt will use a wide range of Covid-19 vaccines to immunise the members of the public.
Ministry of Health Spokesman Khaled Megahid said on Saturday that those who would not be able to use the new registration website could register for vaccine shots at ministry clinics around the nation.
Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad revealed earlier this month that registration for the Covid-19 vaccines would not be limited to Egyptian citizens.
Foreigners and refugees living in Egypt, he said, would be able to register themselves for vaccine shots among priority segments if they meet the conditions, including being over 40 years of age and chronic disease sufferers.
