The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) reported that Egypt exported 160,000 tonns of food products between 8–14 August, with Saudi Arabia as the top importer. Strawberries, sweet potatoes and onions led the list of exported produce.
The authority confirmed the registration of new storage facilities, raising the total to 1,716, and issued over 1,000 export permits and health certificates. On imports, 176,000 tonns of food entered Egypt, mainly wheat and oils, with Russia as the leading supplier.
At the level, more than 1,600 inspection missions were carried out across 6,600 establishments, resulting in the destruction of unsafe products and licensing of refrigerated trucks.
