In the period 17-23 February, 136,000 tons of corn and soybeans worth $58 million were release from ports, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation el-Sayed el-Qoseir announced on Monday.
The amount included 117,000 tons of corn, worth $42 million, and 19,000 tons of soybeans, worth $14.2 million, plus feed additives worth $1.4 million, a press release quoted the minister as saying.
Between 16 October 2022 and 23 February 2023, 1.95 million tons of corn and 798,000 tons of soybeans and feed additives worth a total $1.4 billion were distributed, the minister added.
This comes in response to directives from Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, the minister said, adding that the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the Poultry Federation is monitoring the periodic release of corn, soybeans and feed additives from Egyptian ports.
