Egypt has received an additional 1.5 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine from the United States, the US embassy in Cairo said in a statement on Twitter.
“We welcome the arrival of an additional 1.5 million doses of Pfizer vaccine to Cairo! With this delivery, the United States has now provided over 16 million doses of coronavirus vaccines to Egypt,” US Chargé d’Affaires, Nicole Shampaine, said late Saturday.
Meanwhile, Egypt has received on Thursday a shipment of 347,460 doses of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, said Acting Minister of Health Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar in a statement. The shipment, which arrived at the Cairo International Airport, was delivered via the COVAX Facility.
Abdel-Ghaffar said that Egypt would receive 6 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine on January 5.
Egypt has administered a total of 55,662,624 million doses of the coronavirus vaccines, Abdel Ghaffar added.
