Palm Hills Development (PHD) acquires Telecom Egypt (WE) to provide integrated telecommunication services to Badya, the first fourth-generation city in west Cairo, Invest- Gate reports.

The agreement is signed by Adel Hamed, managing director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, and Tarek Tantawy, Co-CEO of Palm Hills Developments.

According to the protocol, Telecom Egypt (WE) will carry out the necessary optical fiber network to provide a high-speed internet network and supply all residential, commercial and recreational units in the city. The company will also provide telephone services, IPTV services, among other advanced communications services.

On this occasion, Hamed comments, “We are pleased to sign this protocol with Palm Hills Development. Telecom Egypt has a sophisticated infrastructure and extensive technical expertise that enables it to provide such advanced services to major real estate projects in Egypt, in line with the latest communications technology in the world.”

For his part, Tantawy states that Badya is one of the first smart cities belonging to the fourth generation in west Cairo. The company intends to establish a strong infrastructure for the city by using the latest technological methods and central control systems, including artificial intelligence and Internet of things technologies, to combine modernity and sustainability standards.

He remarks that the company aims to make Badya the first sustainable city in the Middle East, following Egypt’s Vision 2030.

It is worth noting that Badya is the first city in New October, covering 3,000 acres, equivalent to 12.6 million sqm. Badya is being implemented, in partnership with the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), with LE100 bn of investments.

Additionally, Badya offers many smart services, including the availability of electronic payment systems, licensing, means of intelligent transportation and electronically controlled parking systems.
