CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla said his ministry developed a specific action strategy for using digital transformation in digging and exploration activities in order to boost the efficiency of work and scale up production rates.
Molla’s remarks came at talks with Weatherford company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer David Reed and his accompanying delegation.
Weatherford International plc, an American–Irish public limited company, together with its subsidiaries, is a multinational oilfield service company and one of the largest companies in the world in oil services.
The meeting came after the company won a partnership with Enppi in an international bid round offered by Khalda Petroleum Company to digitalize 100 wells and link them automatically to the different sites of the company in the Western Desert.
The talks tackled ways of expanding the company’s activities in Egypt in the period to come.
Reed, in turn, said Weatherford has a strong desire to expand its activities in Egypt. He delivered a presentation on Weatherford’s business in the use of horizontal drilling equipment installation technology in a number of brownfields to sustain production for a longer time which has been already done in some fields of the PetroBakr and Badr El Din Petroleum (Bapetco) companies.
Weatherford delivers innovative energy services that integrate proven technologies with advanced digitalization to create sustainable offerings for maximized value and return on investment, according to him.
