SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt – The Egyptian government plans to issue Sukuk that will be part of funding for the new fiscal year, Finance Minister Mohamed Mait told MENA.
The minister made the remarks in statements to MENA on Saturday on the sidelines of a session of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group’s 2022 annual meeting in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Mait reiterated that the value of Sukuk has not been set so far, while the issue of green Sukuk has not been decided yet.
The government currently works on making the necessary relevant arrangements for issuing Sukuk, the minister said, underlining the need to expand in having further investors of Sukuk and create favourable environment to achieve this goal.
