Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, Dr Tareq El-Houby met Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Alexandria, Ahmed Hawash during hi inspection visit to the port of Alexandria.

They discussed joint co-operation between NFSA and the Port of Alexandria in order to enhance the monitoring role of the Food Safety Authority during the coming period and ensure the arrival of healthy and safe food for the Egyptian citizen.

El-Houby also conducted an inspection tour of Hutchison’s Chinese terminal yard in Alexandria Port.

Also, he inspected the opening and inspection of food containers and the withdrawal of samples from various food messages, stressing the need to simplify the inspection procedures for imported or exported goods.

El-Houby also met with the inspectors of NFSA who inspected the containers in the port of Alexandria and listened to their proposals and promised to implement them as soon as possible.

In addition to meeting with a group of customers and interacted with them if they had any obstacles, listening to their views and suggestions to overcome any obstacles, stressing the need to facilitate the dealers with the authority in order to facilitate the movement of trade and support Egyptian food exports.

A meeting was held with the leaders of Hutchison to discuss the mechanisms for accelerating the time of customs release as well as the size of the plant’s work and methods of exchanging containers.

Head of the Government Relations and Public Relations Sector Wael Radwan reviewed the number of company’s stations. He explained that the company operates at the rate of exchange of 1 million containers per year through the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila only.

El-Houby met with Head of the Central Administration of the Port of Dakhilah Mahmoud Ibrahim Abdel Fattah, and conducted an inspection tour of the facility in the Port of Dakhilah to see the current situation and find out how ready the laboratory is to start actual work.

This comes within the framework of the efforts of NFSA to co-operate and coordinate with the authorities and agencies operating in customs ports to reduce the time of customs release procedures and work to facilitate the movement of trade and support Egyptian food exports.
