The National Food Safety Authority of Egypt (NFSA) launched the Egyptian Global Food Safety Symposium Series (EGFoSS) in partnership with the Egyptian Chamber of Food Industries (CFI) and in collaboration with the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) and Global Food Regulatory Science Society (GFoRSS).
The event was organised on the sidelines of World Food Safety Day 2024, which brings experts of food safety and industry experts in the food and agricultural industries from Egypt and around the world together.
The symposium titled “Modern food control systems as an engine for innovation and investment in the food and agricultural industry”.
The production sector of food and agricultural products is one of the most vital economic sectors, and enjoys significant support from various sectors of the State in accordance with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s call to ‘improve the performance of agricultural and food production sectors to meet the challenges of food security not only in Egypt, but in the entire African continent”.
Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority Dr Tareq El Houby said the event is in line with the vision expressed through NFSA’s 2023-2026 strategy which aims to serve as a regional reference platform for all aspects of the food safety system, based on scientific bases in decision-making.”
It plays a leading role in the Middle East and Africa by developing and implementing its food control programmes in order to protect consumer health and building confidence in Egyptian food products.
