Head of the Central Department of Agricultural Quarantine at the Ministry of Agriculture Ahmed el Attar said Egyptian exports rose by 600,000 tons in 2021 compared to last year to record five million tons, despite the coronavirus crisis worldwide.
For the third year in a row, Egypt has become the largest exporting country of citrus fruits, topped by orange crops in the world, added Attar in televised remarks on Saturday.
That was attributed to cultivating high quality products matching international quality standards and efforts exerted by the Department in terms of monitoring, quarantine and supervision to ensure that the requirements of importing countries were met, in addition to tapping several new markets, according to him.
At present, no ban was slapped by any country on Egyptian agricultural products, said Attar, adding the Egyptian agricultural products were exported to various countries without any obstacles.
