The exchange rate of the US dollar against the Egyptian pound increased in most of the banks between 28-30 piasters, after it was increased by 2.50 to 2.55 pounds, following a decision by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to increase the interest rate by 1 per cent.
At the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr, the dollar rate upped to LE18.43 for buying and LE18.53 for selling against the previous price of trading, which hit LE18.15 for buying and LE18.25 for selling.
The dollar rate registered LE18.45 for buying and LE18.55 for selling at the Commercial International Bank (CIB).
The euro price, meanwhile, registered LE20.20 for buying and LE20.42 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
At the CIB, the euro price was LE20.22 for buying and LE20.45 for selling.
Meanwhile, the pound sterling registered LE24.18 for buying and LE24.44 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
The Saudi riyal price stood at LE4.92 for buying and LE4.93 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
