The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indexes posted collective gains at the close of Tuesday’s trading session, the last one ahead of Eidul Fitr vacation, backed by strong purchases by Egyptian and Arab investors.
The market capital gained about LE 6.3 billion to hit LE672.1 billion at closing, after transactions that totaled LE2.2 billion.
The EGX 30 benchmark index went up by 0.77 per cent, registering 10,767.84 points.
The broader EGX 70 EWI index of the leading small and mid-cap enterprises (SMEs) increased by 1.24 per cent, closing at 2,161.97 points.
The all-embracing EGX 100 index was up 1.22 per cent, ending at 3,096.77 points.
EGX will start the official Eidul Fitr vacation as of today till Sunday, 16 May. It will resume work as of Monday.
