CAIRO- Egypt’s- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday followed up the implementation status of Julius Nyerere Hydropower plant and dam in Tanzania during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Housing Asem Gazzar.
The largest-of-its-kind project in Tanzania is undertaken by a consortium of Egyptian companies, including the Arab Contractors Company and El Sewedy Electric, under the supervision of the Egyptian government.
It is expected to contribute to generating twice the energy production in the country, to serve as an example to follow for fruitful cooperation with sisterly African nations.
During the meeting, the minister of housing has also posted the president on the progress of the underway development projects in the New Administrative Capital and other new cities, including the New Alamein City which is located on the North Coast.
Sisi also followed up the progress of some urban development projects in Old Cairo, also known as Historic Cairo, as part of the State’s efforts to preserve and restore the culture heritage and splendor of the area, according to Presidential Spokesman, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy.
The president was also briefed on the progress of “The Greatest Transfiguration over the Land of Peace” project in Sinai in the vicinity of Mount Moses and St. Catherine, which includes a number of integrated development projects.
He instructed that the project be implemented in an integrated manner to turn its uniquely located site into one of the world’s best tourist attractions.
Sisi also directed that the project must take into account internationally-recognized standards for sustainable tourism and the spiritual value of the project site, which stems from its being the incubator of world’s religions over the Land of Peace.
