CAIRO- The National Alliance for Civil Work for Development announced the launch of the “Shoulder-to-Shoulder” initiative which is the biggest social protection initiative in Egypt.
The initiative is launched in 16 governorates in preparation to the holy fasting month of Ramadan, the alliance said in a statement on Friday.
The governorates include Cairo, Giza, Qaliobiya, Gharbia, Monofiya, Kafr El Sheikh, Beheira, Alexandria, Ismailia, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Sohag, Luxor and Aswan.
The alliance said the initiative activities include distributing over one million food packages in addition to 160,000 meals and 30,000 pieces of clothes among needy families in these governorates.
The initiative is launched in accordance with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
