CAIRO – The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) said that the inflation rate recorded 161.3 points in February, marking a 7.1 per cent rise in comparison with January.
Meanwhile, the annual inflation rate rose to 32.9 per cent in February 2023 against 10 per cent in the same month last year, according to a statement issued by CAPMAS on Thursday.
CAPMAS attributed the rise in the monthly inflation rate in February to the increase in the prices of food and beverage by 14.8 per cent, the fruit group by 10.8 per cent and dairy products by 11.1 per cent.
At the same time, the agency noted an increase in the prices of grains and bread by 9.2 per cent, meat and poultry by 29.7 per cent, and fish and seafood by 19.5 per cent.
The prices of the ready-made clothes went up by 1.5 per cent, the statement said.
