Burundi Senate President Emmanuel Sinzohagera asserted Tuesday his keenness on promoting economic co-operation with Egypt as a central country in Africa.
This came during a meeting on Tuesday between Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir and Sinzohagera, in presence of Ambassador of Burundi in Cairo Sheikh Rashid Malachi Nyiragira and Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) Minister Plenipotentiary Yehia al Wathiq-billah.
Sinzohagera stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the trade, agriculture, industry and tourism fields, along with unifying efforts and visions between the two countries in issues of mutual interest.
For his part, the trade minister said that Egypt outlined a five-year plan of action for African countries, which is based on achieving mutual interest, expressing Egypt’s readiness to transfer its expertise to Burundi in the production sectors.
The Egyptian State is working to strengthen its economic ties with Burundi through their membership in the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), in addition to the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA), he further noted.
