The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) on Monday received a delegation of the British Trade Mission to Egypt.

The meeting, organised by the Egyptian British Chamber of Commerce, was held in the presence of Dr Ibrahim Abdel Khalek, SCZone vice chairman for Investment and Promotion Affairs, Amani Essawi, SCZone’s Advisor for International Relations, UK Ambassador to Cairo Mr Gareth Bayley and several British company owners in green fuel and desalination.

Discussions focused on investment opportunities offered by SCZone.

Abdel Khalek spoke of the SCZone readiness to receive industries involved in green fuel, green fuel feeder industries, and complementary industries such as desalination.

The SCZone signed 23 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) regarding the production of green fuel with major international consortia, including British companies, Abdel Khalek added.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated the first green hydrogen project in the Sokhna industrial zone during the last climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, he said.

The zone provides investment incentives for successful partners working in its field, as well as the special incentives that the Egyptian government is considering for green fuel industries, he said.

“We aim to make SCZone the regional hub for green industry as a result of integration between industrial zones and ports, and thanks to the location and the availability of renewable energy resources,” Abdel Khalek said

Talks also covered inquiries by British company owners about the investment advantages of SCZone, the availability of infrastructure and the competitive prices that SCZone is offering compared to its regional counterparts.

The SCZone vice chairman also pointed out the continuation of development work in the Suez Canal ports to qualify them with the highest global standards to receive various types of ships, especially the modern generations of them.
