While scrolling through social media networks, you might stumble across pictures of women in modern clothes in distinctive colours with pharaonic inscriptions.

Inspired by Egyptian civilisation, an interior designer made costumes reflecting the pharaonic spirit.

Ehab Tawfik, 34, whose designs went viral in the last few days, also designed uniforms for Egyptian flight attendants.

“My focus is to promote tourism and the flight crew goes to many countries, so Egyptian style is of paramount importance,” he told The Egyptian Mail.

The uniforms are decorated with pharaonic inscriptions, and passengers may start asking the attendants about them, Tawfik said.

Using artificial intelligence, Tawfik has also designed accessories and dresses inspired by Egyptian civilisation.

“AI is an important in exploiting modern technologies, which is why I used AI to revive the Egyptian identity through diverse designs,” he said.

Tawfik has designed pharaonic-style wedding dresses in modern cuts.

“As soon as I published them on my social media, the reaction was tremendous. So, I decided to develop my project to serve tourism, and what more fitting (pun intended) way than flight attendant uniforms?”

The spark of inspiration came primarily from the mummies’ parade from Tahrir Square to the Grand Egyptian Museum.

“I have been following up peoples’ reactions worldwide and how they are impressed with the Egyptian rich history. The Grand Egyptian Museum is to be inaugurated soon as well. This huge momentum has prompted me to promote our culture through fashion designs,” he said.

Many people have approached him to design pharaonic costumes.

“I hope flight attendant uniforms will take off (pun utterly intended) as well.”

Tawfik is ecstatic that his designs were trending.

“This is the bright side of social media. Instead of promoting trends that have no value, it is important to draw the public attention towards something useful.

“Our heritage is full of unique, unparalleled beauty .We can benefit as much as possible from our heritage and preserve it by adapting the technological tools of the age.”
