Egyptian Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi said the volume of investments and constructions in the youth and sports sector hit EGP 16.6 billion in the past seven years.
Sobhi added that his ministry earned a sum of about EGP 4 billion as part of the youth centers initiative.
The minister made the remarks during a seminar held Tuesday by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) under its chairman Karam Gabr on “June 30 revolution and exploring the new republic,” in the presence of Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Planning Minister Hala el Saeed and Social Solidarity Minister Nivine el Kabbag.
Sobhi said the youth and sports ministry’s role is aligned with national development strategies that aim to fulfill the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
He also said that the ministry has implemented 5,047 youth programs over the past seven years, in which 89 million young people participated.
He pointed out to the programs implemented in cooperation with the ministries of social solidarity and communications, noting that the planning ministry supported the giant projects carried out over the past few years.
All youth centers nationwide will be upgraded as part of Decent Life initiative, he promised, noting that 1,000 centers in 1,500 villages will be covered as part of the first phase of the initiative.
