Development in Sinai is unprecedented and problems arising from water scarcity are now a thing of the past.

This statement by South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda came during the official opening of drinking water reservoirs in Ras Sedr city. The governor also conducted the virtual opening of similar facilities in Abou Rudeis and Abu Zenima. These ceremonies form part of celebrations of the 8th anniversary of the June 30 Revolution.

Governor Fouda delivered a speech expressing appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s concern with development in South Sinai.

He expressed thanks to Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, the National Authority for Potable Water and Sewage, the Holding Company for Water and Waste Water, and Arab Contractors for carrying projects for sustainable development in Sinai.

He also congratulated the people of South Sinai on the projects being carried out in the governorate to ensure constant supplies of drinking water.

Head of the Canal and Sinai Sector at the Arab Contractors, Mubarak Mansour Mubarak said that the company is working on several water and sewage service projects in the peninsula.

Ras Sedr includes two 100,000-cubic metre reservoirs.

The reservoirs in Abou Radeis and Abu Zenima each have a capacity of 100,000 cubic metres.

Ahmed Gamea, head of the Arab Contractors’ sector in Sinai, said the projects cost a total of LE173 million.

Fouda yesterday inaugurated the 2,000-cubc metre water pump at King Salman University.

Several officials from South Sinai and the National Authority for Potable Water and Sewage attended the opening ceremonies.
