Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tarek el Molla said Tuesday that converting petrol-powered vehicles to run on Compressed natural gas (CNG) saved more than one million tons of liquid fuels in the past year.

This came during a meeting to follow up on a plan to expand the use of natural gas as a fuel for cars, the minister said that the unprecedented projects during that period to add natural gas fueling stations and conversion centers made a quantum leap in the use of natural gas as fuel for cars in the local market.
