The Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) won first place in the patent index for universities established under a special agreement with foreign governments, private universities, and branches of foreign universities.

This was announced by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology during the 7th Cairo International Innovation Fair, which was held under patronage of President
Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

E-JUST president Dr Amr Adly said that in less than 10 years, there have been 83 patents covering all disciplines of engineering sciences and basic sciences thanks to benefiting from Japanese expertise, prominent scientists in the faculty members and advanced laboratories that cost $50 million on campus.

University policy supports innovation and innovators in keeping with intellectual property law as applicable to university staff, Adly said.

E-JUST gives top priority to applied research for industry to support the economy and achieve sustainable development goals, Adly added.

Thirteen of the university’s scientists are on the list of American Stanford University of the top 2 per cent of the world’s most cited scientists in various fields, he said.

According to the Sinagua ranking for scientific research, the university has come between first and fifth place out of all Egyptian universities since 2019, he added.
