Egypt seeks to gain access to new financing resources to fund its sustainable development goals and benefit from the available opportunities to expand its financing base and use funds more efficiently, Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el-Saeed has said.
Saeed made the remarks during her meeting Saturday with UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova, the ministry said in a statement.
During the meeting, they discussed a project to finance Egypt’s sustainable development goals that is implemented within the framework of a co-operation protocol signed between the Planning Ministry and the Sustainable Development Goals Fund (SDG Fund).
Saeed appreciated the efforts made by the UN in Egypt, its support for the Egyptian government, as well as the backing offered by the SDG Fund with a view to estimating the Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF)’s cost for SDGs, and assessing the current funding.
For her part, Panova said the UN is keen to provide the necessary support to the Egyptian government as regards achieving the Sustainable Development Strategy, known as Egypt’s Vision 2030.
