EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering, the technical arm of EgyptAir Holding Company, signed a partnership contract with the Jordanian company Petra Aerospace in the field of repair and overhaul of CFM56-3 engines.

The signing came on the sidelines of the 31st edition of the International Conference on Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul in Africa and the Middle East (MRO) 2023 and the 10th African Aviation Training Conference and Exhibition, held in Cairo on 5-7 February 2023.

Chairman of the EgyptAir Holding Company, Yehia Zakaria, confirmed that the partnership with Petra Airlines came within the framework of the national company’s keenness to maximise economic returns and diversify sources of income, and in line with the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s vision to attract more investments.

Zakaria affirmed that EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering is expanding its customer network by providing new services that are in line with the development of the global aviation industry.

Eng. Walid el-Khafif, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering, said that the partnership extended to include developing and raising the capabilities of EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering’s engine maintenance complex in Cairo, through qualifying and training technical staff on the latest technologies and procedures to increase production efficiency and provide new equipment and tools to increase the capacity of the engine overhaul workshop for this type of engines.

El-Khafif added that the partnership includes marketing the capabilities of the engine workshop to attract more customers in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.
