Statistics from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) showed a remarkable recovery of the air travel sector in various countries of the world. The statistics also noted that airlines in the Middle East recorded an annual increase of 84.6 per cent in November 2022.

Total air traffic increased by 41.3 per cent in November 2022 compared to the corresponding period in 2021, while global passenger trafficis now at 75.3 per cent, on the levels recorded in November 2019.

The Asia-Pacific region (APAC) also continued to score the highest year-on-year results.Revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) for international flights hit 73.7 per cent in November 2022 compared to levels registered in November 2019.

Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region achieved a 373.9 per cent increase in passenger traffic during November 2022 compared to the same month two years ago, recording the highest rate on an annual basis among all regions.

The European airlines achieved a 45.3 per cent increase in passenger traffic in November 2022 compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

North American airlines saw a 69.9 percent improvement in passenger traffic compared to the same period in 2021.

The Middle East airlines recorded an 84.6 percent increase in passenger traffic in November 2022 compared to the levels registered in November 2021.

Latin American airlines achieved an increase of 59.2 per cent in passenger traffic last November compared to the same period in 2021. The African airlines recorded an 83.5 percent increase in RPK during November 2022 compared to the percentage registered in the same month of 2021.

Domestic traffic for November 2022 was up 3.4 per cent compared to November 2021 with travel restrictions in China continuing to dampen the global result. Total November 2022 domestic traffic was at 77.7 per cent of the November 2019 level.
