Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Albanian Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro on the environmental protection and sustainable development.
The agreement was inked on the sidelines of the two ministers’ participation in the High-Level Segment of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity that is held in the Canadian city of Montreal on December 7-19, under the presidency of China, according to a statement released by the Environment Ministry on Saturday.
Fouad said the MoU is aimed at fostering cooperation between Egypt and Albania in the fields of biodiversity, nature reserves, ecotourism, coastal zone management, climate change, marine pollution and disaster management, as well as air and water quality monitoring.
She noted the two countries will organize a range of joint seminars, workshops and meetings attended by ecologists, experts, decision makers and other relevant stakeholders from both sides, in addition to strengthening cooperation between the private sector in Egypt and Albania in a number of environment areas.
