Egypt’s Minister of International Co-operation Rania al-Mashat on tuesday received an award for the Most Visionary and Outstanding Minister of International Co-operation of 2022 in Africa’, presented by the George Washington University Institute of African Studies and the GE7 Initiative at the Visionary Leaders Annual Summit in Washington.
The award ceremony took place on the sidelines of the second US-Africa Leaders Summit hosted by the US in the presence of US President Joe Biden and African heads of state.
The award was presented by the director of George Washington University Institute of African Studies, Dr. Jennifer Cooke in the presence of representatives of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
This award is in recognition of al-Mashat’s contribution to advancing international cooperation and in launching practical initiatives to stimulate development financing, Cooke said during the ceremony.
The ceremony opened with a short documentary on the minister’s efforts to strengthen international cooperation and advance sustainable development.
During the ceremony, al-Mashat thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his support and commitment to enhancing economic diplomacy and international co-operation efforts, as well as in consolidating relations on a global level to progress towards development while also meeting Egypt’s own national objectives.
