China’s Ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang has hailed the talks held by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and China’s Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the first China-Arab States Summit which the Saudi capital of  Riyadh hosted recently.

The two leaders discussed ways of boosting bilateral co-operation in different fields and pushing forward the comprehensive strategic partnership, Liao told a press conference on Sunday, according to the MENA news agency.

Sisi and Xi also stressed the importance of working together to support the path of development in Egypt, as well as strengthening world’s stability.

Liao stressed China’s support to Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the country’s strategies for achieving digital transformation and combating climate change, as well as the Decent Life initiative.

According to the Chinese envoy, trade exchange between Egypt and China hit more than $20 billion in 2021, marking an annual increase of 37 per cent.

China funds 360 projects in Egypt, he said, citing some 160 Chinese companies operating in the Egyptian market.

In the meantime, he referred to some major projects China is carrying out in Egypt, notably the construction of Africa’s largest Iconic Tower in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), Africa’s largest vaccine-storing complex, the largest cement complex in North Africa and the fifth largest fiberglass factory in the world.

The outcome of the first China-Arab States Summit showed mutual interest in bolstering co-operation in areas of green and sustainable development and  food and energy security.

According to the Chinese envoy, the summit’s final communique stressed Arab states’ supportive stance for Beijing with regard to the one-China policy.

The summit also stressed the significance of enhancing co-operation between China and Arab states within the Belt and Road initiative, in addition to supporting other Chinese initiatives such as the global development initiative, the ambassador said.
