The Institute of Diplomatic Studies organised a two-week training course in the field of capacity-building for diplomats from French-speaking African countries as part of the annual co-operation programmes offered by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said 24 diplomats from 16 African countries have participated in the training course. The countries include Mauritania, Chad, Niger, Cameron, Comoros, Benin, Senegal, Burundi, Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic, Guinea and Madgascar, Djibouti and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This course is based on Egypt’s historical relations and long-standing ties of friendship with brotherly African countries, said Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Hamdy Sanad Luza.

The main themes of the course addressed a range of current and top political, economic, and development issues in African diplomacy.

It also included a series of practical trainings aiming to develop skills and build the diplomatic capabilities of participants in the fields of international law, organising international conferences, protocol, negotiations, crisis management, and communication with the media.
