Proceedings of the Fourth Arab Water Conference kicked off on Wednesday at the Arab League (AL) premises.
The two-day forum is organised by Palestine under the rubric of Arab Water Security for Life, Development and Peace.
The forum is held under the sponsorship of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, with the participation of the ministers of water resources and irrigation, along with delegations from the Arab countries and relevant regional organisations.
The forum aims to create an active platform for stakeholders from the countries, organisations, decision-makers, experts, the private sector, and international organisations to discuss various aspects of Arab water security, work together to develop solutions for the most prominent challenges, and come up with recommendations capable to achieve and make progress in this aspect, according to the official website of the Fourth Arab Water Conference.
It also aims to enhance and strengthen transboundary water co-operation in line with the Sixth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG6), The Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes, and The Convention on the Law of Non-Navigational Uses of International Watercourses.
