Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag on Monday followed up progress in the national initiative to preserve the Egyptian family unit, otherwise known as Mawaddah.l

The project is being implemented according to directives from the political leadership to inform young people who are about to marry on how to build a stable family entity

The Mawaddah initiative, of which the core objective is to reduce the incidence of divorce, has been carried out in co-operation with state-run universities as per a protocol signed with the Ministry of Higher Education.

Project director Randa Fares said that the fourth and final stage of the Mawaddah training course was from July to September 2022.

Mawadda platform was launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during the World Youth Forum in December 2019.

Since its inception, 35,000 students from 11 government universities completed training courses, Fares said.
